War and Terrorist Sects
Article 2
by Arlene Apone -
the Director of the Detroit Catholic Charismatic Renewal Center, a frequent speaker at retreats, conferences, and days of prayer, as well as an editor, author, and/or co-author of many books.

We have been praying the prayer of intercession for protection against wars and terrorist sects on behalf of our country for this past year.  God is His mercy and love has honored our humble efforts.  To my knowledge (as of the day I am writing this article, December 5, 2005), the United States of America has not had any additional terrorist attacks nor has war touched this land.

We must recognize how God’s protection has saved us and be grateful.  We know there are many levels of responsibility to achieve this security, and we pray for all people involved.  We thank God for their work.

As to our involvement in the war on terror outside of our country, we will continue our daily intercession for decisions made by our government, the safety of our troops, and the protection of the peoples of other countries still daily affected in this conflict.  We have losses among our brave military personnel, and will pray for their courageous souls and their families.  We pray, too, for our enemies as Jesus directs: “You have learnt how it was said, you must love your neighbor and hate your enemy, But I say this to you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, in this way you will be sons of your Father in heaven.”  (Mt 5:43-45)

As St. Therese modeled for us, let us offer each day with its mundane tasks, its joys, and its sufferings for the cause of peace to come into the hearts and lives of all God’s people.  Praying in the Holy Spirit is praying in the mind and heart of the Trinity!

Jesus says, “The victory is mine!"

(This is the second in a series of Bulletin articles that will address the twelve areas of prayer for which the Lord has requested that all in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of Detroit intercede. Those who are led to pray for this particular intention of wars, terrorist sects, and people responsible in the nations for making decisions about these issues, please contact Arlene Apone, the writer of this article, at #248-593-4888, to let her know that you will join with her and others in praying for this topic.
