Abortion, Prayer and Inner Transformation

by Ann Bonenfant

08AnnB  Focus On Prayer  Life, Abortion  Ann Bonenfant  Prayer Team 08 - Psalm 33:8 - Ann Bonenfant  - #313-387-0981- Remember to join one of the 12 Teams

“I offer this up for the unborn, for an end to abortion.  Lord, for conversions, for changes of heart in legislators, judges, governors, people in authority and just regular citizens, that they would see the sacredness of all human life.  Lord, for an end to the culture of death.”

I murmur these words as I go through my day, offering up all the little and big irritations and circumstances that happen contrary to my will: the ten red lights I have to wait through, the phone calls in the middle of preparing dinner, the involved homework project that needs to be done tonight, the long awaited getaway cancelled because of sickness or injury or the needs of a job or a child.

As I am daily surrendering my will to the Lord, I am enabled to receive more and more of His love.  I find it is much easier to love others, especially those who do not agree with me on the life issues.  My emotions seem to be simmering down and the knowledge and the wisdom of the Spirit seem to be flowing out.  Praise the Lord!!!

Peace and trust are other byproducts of this sacrificial surrender.  Jesus is Lord and in control.  He hears the cries of His children and answers their prayers.  He is at work in ways I cannot see, but by faith I know and rejoice in that work.  Praise and thanksgiving flow freely and criticism and complaining are lessened.  I am finding it easier to lay down my life for my family and friends.

I want to encourage all of us pray-ers to continue our intercessions for the twelve areas introduced in October 2004.   Keep on praying.  As the power is going out into the desert setting the captives free, the Spirit is also bringing forth fruit in our inner lives.  We are being transformed into the holy people of God.

(This is the twelfth in a series of Bulletin articles that address the twelve areas of prayer for which the Lord has requested that all in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Archdiocese of Detroit intercede.  Those who are led to pray for this particular intention of "Abortion," please contact Ann Bonenfant, the writer of this article, at #313-387-0981, to let her know that you will join with her and others in praying for this topic.)
